Facility Grid, a Nexa Equity portfolio company and a leading provider of cloud-based commissioning (Cx), operational readiness (OR), and sustainability software for the construction industry, today announced the appointment of Tim Curran to its Board of Directors.
The appointment comes as Facility Grid expands from a market-leading commissioning platform into a unified building lifecycle software company. Following its acquisition of PingCx in August, Facility Grid now offers three integrated products on one AI-enabled platform: FG Construct for commissioning, quality management, and operational readiness; FG Validate for autonomous building systems testing; and FG Sustain for energy audits, carbon reporting, and ongoing building performance.
“Our goal is to become the system of record for engineering across the full building lifecycle, from construction through operations,” said Daniel Russo, CEO of Facility Grid. “Tim has built and scaled market-defining companies on both sides of that lifecycle, and we worked together at Building Engines. His experience will help us sharpen our strategy and grow faster.”
A five-time software CEO, Curran has spent 20 years in construction and real estate technology. He led Vela Systems, the construction industry’s first mobile field management software, through its 2012 acquisition by Autodesk, where it became BIM 360. He later led Building Engines, the commercial real estate operations platform acquired by JLL in 2021, and earlier led Eleven Technology through its 2006 acquisition by Trimble. Curran is Executive Chairman of Rapidworks, which offers quote-to-cash and operation management solutions to heavy equipment trade contractors, and a Board Director of Knowify, which offers cloud-based project and service management software for the construction trades. He also advises and invests in more than a dozen vertical SaaS companies.
“The industry still manages buildings through disconnected point solutions, and the data breaks at every handoff, especially at turnover,” said Curran. “Facility Grid is connecting the data from construction through operations, which is where the real value is. I’m excited to help Daniel and the team accelerate that vision.”
