September 30 open meeting could advance consideration of additional professional credentials
NEW YORK, NY – September 29, 2026 – (KOREWIRE) — KoreInside welcomes the Securities and Exchange Commission’s upcoming open meeting on Wednesday, September 30, where commissioners will consider issuing notices concerning whether additional certifications, designations or credentials should qualify individuals for accredited investor status under Rule 501(a)(10) of Regulation D.
The discussion presents an opportunity to examine how demonstrated investment knowledge can be recognized while maintaining meaningful investor protections. The SEC’s existing framework permits individuals with certain Commission-designated professional credentials in good standing to qualify, alongside other paths to accredited investor status. The September 30 agenda concerns possible notices and further consideration; it does not itself approve any additional credential.
“We applaud the SEC for taking a fresh look at how demonstrated knowledge and professional qualifications can open a door to the private capital markets,” said Todd C. Bertsch, Chief Business Officer of KoreInside. “An investor’s ability to understand risk does not always fit neatly into an income or net worth test. If the Commission finds that additional credentials reliably demonstrate that ability, recognizing them could give more qualified people a chance to participate in private offerings while preserving the standards and protections that make these markets work. That is a conversation worth having.”
For KoreInside, broader investor access must be matched by clear disclosure, sound compliance practices and reliable eligibility verification. The company supports thoughtful approaches that recognize financial sophistication and give issuers and intermediaries practical ways to apply the rules consistently.
The SEC’s open meeting is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. ET on September 30, 2026. The accredited investor credential discussion is Item 3 on the published agenda. KoreInside will review any notices the Commission issues and their implications for the private capital markets. Click here to view SEC Agenda. The meeting will be simultaneously webcast on the Commission’s website at www.sec.gov.
